Public Data Collection Principles and Removal Requests
Datafalk Inc. · Last updated: 28 October 2026 · Effective date: 28 October 2026
1. Why this document exists
Datafalk maps supplier networks and monitors supply chain risk by collecting and analysing information about organisations from sources accessible to the public and from licensed datasets. Most of the organisations and people who appear in Datafalk Data have never dealt with Datafalk. This document explains what we collect, how we collect it, how we process it, and how an organisation or an individual can ask us to correct or remove information.
2. What we collect
2.1 Information about organisations: identity, registration details, ownership and corporate structure, sites and facilities, products, certifications, commercial relationships (suppliers, customers, logistics routes), trade and customs records, press coverage, regulatory and sanctions status, and public statements.
2.2 Information about individuals, limited to their professional role in an organisation: name, title, organisation represented, professional contact details published by the organisation, and public documents or statements made in that role.
2.3 We do not bypass authentication, paywalls or technical access restrictions; we access licensed databases within the rights granted to us. We do not collect private communications, private contact details or home addresses of individuals. Our products are designed to exclude special categories of personal data and data relating to the criminal convictions and offences of natural persons: adverse information relating to sanctions, corruption, forced labour or similar matters is recorded at the level of the organisation concerned, and information of that kind incidentally present in a source about an identifiable person is not extracted into our data about that person. Recording information under an organisation does not remove this restriction where an individual remains directly or indirectly identifiable.
3. How we collect
3.1 Sources. Company websites and product documentation; corporate registries and official filings; customs and trade databases; press and specialist publications; regulatory, certification and sanctions lists; licensed third-party datasets; and information provided by our customers about their own supply chains, which remains theirs and is used only for their Services, as provided in the Terms of Use and the Terms of Sale. We record the provenance and the permitted uses of each category of source.
3.2 Automated collection. Where we collect from websites, our crawler identifies itself by its user agent, DatafalkBot, and by the address of a page describing it (www.datafalk.com/bot), applies rate limits so as not to burden the sites it visits, does not bypass authentication, paywalls or technical protection measures, and honours the crawler directives (robots.txt) and the machine-readable reservations of rights addressed to it. Website operators who wish to restrict our crawler may write to legal@datafalk.com.
3.3 Rights governing reuse. Before reusing a category of source, we assess the rights that govern it: the licence granted by the provider, the exceptions for text and data mining provided by copyright law where their conditions are met (lawful access and respect of reservations of rights), and, for personal data, the legal basis and safeguards described in our Privacy Policy. Public availability of information is not, by itself, permission to reproduce it. Datafalk extracts facts, relationships and references from its sources; it republishes protected expression only to the extent permitted by an applicable licence or legal exception, and any quotation meets the conditions of the applicable law, including attribution and the limits justified by its purpose.
4. How we process
4.1 We resolve entities, meaning that we identify when different records refer to the same organisation, and we infer relationships between organisations from the evidence collected, using graph algorithms, statistical methods and artificial intelligence. Each relationship is associated with its sources and with a confidence level, whose definition is displayed with the maps and pages, and which distinguishes a statement made by one of the parties concerned, a report by a third-party source and an inference by Datafalk.
4.2 Datafalk Data is therefore made of sourced statements and inferences, not findings of fact. A relationship may be outdated, incomplete or incorrect, and users of our Services are required to verify material information before relying on it. A documented research that yields no result is a valid result; a non-existent source or a misidentified organisation is not, and is corrected under Section 5.
4.3 Atlas company pages are produced from Datafalk Data by automated processing with the assistance of artificial intelligence, under Datafalk's editorial responsibility and without systematic human review; they are identified as AI-assisted. Public Atlas pages display only relationships declared by one of the parties concerned; inferred relationships and customs-derived relationships are reserved to authenticated users bound by our Terms of Use and Terms of Sale.
5. Corrections and disputes by organisations
5.1 An organisation that believes information displayed about it is inaccurate may write to legal@datafalk.com or use the "Report an error or request a correction" form on each map and page, identifying the page or map concerned, the information disputed and the reason, with supporting evidence where available.
5.2 We review every request, verify the sources, correct or qualify the information where the request is founded, and inform the requester of the outcome within one month. In case of serious doubt, or where a credible report of serious harm is made, Datafalk may suspend the disputed information from the public version during its review. Where sources conflict, we display the conflict rather than suppress it. A correction or removal is applied to all versions under our control, including the maps and pages delivered to our customers, who are notified of it; copies kept as evidence are isolated with restricted access.
5.3 Datafalk does not, as a rule, remove accurate and sourced information about an organisation at the organisation's request: supply chain transparency is a legitimate interest of our customers and of the public, recognised by supply chain due diligence legislation. We remove information where it is inaccurate and cannot be corrected, where its source is no longer available and it cannot be confirmed, where it was obtained in breach of these Principles, where it infringes the rights of a third party, or where the law or a court order requires it.
6. Objections and removal requests by individuals
6.1 An individual who appears in Datafalk Data may ask which data we hold about them, request its correction, object to its processing or request its deletion, by writing to privacy@datafalk.com or through the form mentioned in Section 5.1. We may ask for proof of identity where we have reasonable doubts.
6.2 We respond within one month, extendable by two months for complex requests, in which case we tell you why within the first month. We assess objections individually and act on them unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override the individual's interests, which we explain in our reply; the publication, by the organisation itself, of an individual's current role in it may constitute such a ground, after assessment. Objections to prospecting are always honoured. In case of serious doubt, the disputed information is suspended from the public version during our review. The individual may refer the matter to a supervisory authority as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Requests from authorities and rights holders
Requests from public authorities must be addressed to legal@datafalk.com and will be assessed under applicable law. Notices of claimed copyright infringement follow the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
